Dodson Brothers Dentistry: Kihei

Dentist working on my tooth failed to get a crown to fit properly. Resulted in infection, puss, blood, antibiotics. When I addressed this with the receptionist I was informed everyone was off island for the rest of the month and no one was available to take care of an emergency and because it was another dentist's issue no other dentist wanted to get involved in fixing someone else's mistake ( liability). When i told my symptoms and suspected cause to the receptionist this untrained person was making a medical diagnosis without even seeing me. I do believe this is a crime. I got a referral to a specialist who knows me who confirmed my suspicion was correct and the job needed to be re done. What hum bug! Not sure about their other locations but this one doesn't work for me.

Saved my trip! I had a implant that came loose and was very painful and becoming infected. Dodson Brothers took me in early the next morning. The staff was very friendly and Dr Lewes was exceptional, she removed the implant and prescribed for me an antibiotic. I got immediate relief I was able to enjoy the rest of my vacation pain free. Much thanks to the office!

The Dodson brothers and the whole team are amazing and professional through and through! Irma is wonderful. Ive been seeing them for a decade, and the work has always been top knotch

I had such a wonderful experience here the other day! Lindsey, the hygienist, was so gentle and kind. She made the appointment fly by, and my teeth feel so clean and my gums feel so happy and healthy after her work! Dr. Lewis was very kind and knowledgeable as well. Irma and (I think the other womans name was Mary Ann?), the women at the front desk, were both very welcoming and so helpful when explaining my insurance coverage. Overall a great experience, and Ill recommend this office to anyone who needs a dentist!

I have had no issues with my teeth for the past 15 years, I decided to get a cleaning and x-ray at Dodson. I let my dentist know that I was worried about some repairs I had on my teeth in the past and wanted to know if my teeth were okay She stated my teeth are fine and in good health. One week later I noticed a sharp edge on a tooth and scheduled to take a look. I was told I needed to take another xray for the dentist to check during my follow-up (I would have preferred not to) so I did. The dentist stated "We didn't find anything the last time you were in right?" I stated "That's what you reported to me". I then explained my situation and asked how this could have happened to me and the dentist tried to blame me giving the excuse that I could have been grinding my teeth, chewing on something hard, any and everything under the sun Except for the cleaning. She stated it was basically impossible for the cleaning to cause this (Curious how me going about my usual eating habits can be construed as more caustic to my teeth than a drilling cleaning machine and scraping my teeth with a metal hook) and that she could "quickly fill it with composite to fix it and recommend to take out a small silver filling while she was performing this. I explained to her I had no problems or dentist exams for 15 years and the timing for my issue is unsettling (right after I was seen here). She then stated "They noticed this problem before I left the last exam" and that it is common to notice such things and "monitor them". She then recommended I go to another dentist for a second opinion I agreed. On the way out the front desk person tried to get me to pay for the x-ray and would let me know how much it would cost to fix my issue and it made sense They are trying to keep billing my insurance for their profit. It is hard enough for a working head of the family to take off work to go to an appointment let alone go through the stress of having dental issues and try to research how to fix this. It is my opinion that the dentist andor hygenist damaged my tooth and is now trying to get me to pay for it. I will file a complaint with the DCCA and I recommend you take your self elsewhere for dental care I still have this sharp spot on my tooth.

I had an appointment for a filling. Again, a 45 minute wait. They take an ex-ray. The dentist then told me that she did not have enough time because she has to get to a wedding on Oahu! They have re-booked me for two weeks from now. Never an apology. Irma, the receptionist. She desperately needs some interpersonal skills on how to deal with patients. She seems always angry and rude. Trust the one-star reviews.

Dodson Brothers Dentistry has done so much for my Mom who is now almost 95 years old. "Irma" always make special accommodations for whatever issues mom has. Irma goes the extra mile making her visits easy, painless, and fast. Dr Dodson is great with my mom, giving clear concise instructions while he works on her issues.

The old lady receptionist is horrible . Dont ever ask a question about you bill she will yell at you ! Ive been mistreated by her countless times . Went today for a cleaning I had to walk out . Way to abusive . Im never going back

Dodson Brothers Dentistry was originally recommended to my husband and I by a neighbor, and all I can say is that during my first visit there, I had a really great experience. Throughout the visit, I felt very comfortable, welcomed, and satisfied. For me, I feel that it is very hard to find a good dentist that you like, but I'm really glad that I was able to come across Terri the hygienist, and Dr. Matt Dodson, who did amazing work with my teeth. Not only were they thorough, but they were very professional, skilled, and friendly. My husband loved his experience too. Highly recommend!

I wrote up an appointment request online, I was called the next day by the receptionist and was told shed call me right back.she never did. My boyfriend called the following day only to get the receptionist who was rude and hung up on him after she said she had no appointments for 2 weeks. This was after the receptionist was told that I did not have insurance. I would be a private payerand shes going to be rude? I work in healthcare myself, this is no way to treat a patient. I wont be going there, and I hope this can prevent someone else from being hung up on in the near future!

I had to get a crown while on island and it was not a good experience I had my jaw open for hours and was told by my current dentist that it was that incident that has left me with awful jaw problems. The procedure was much longer than anticipated and I continue to have problems with the crown itself. The staff was really nice and easy to work with thats the only thing keeping me from giving it one star but I did not recommend any of my friends to the office.

I booked an appointment with these dentists and the canceled less than 24 before and tried to book me for emergency. they are a rip-off.

Found my favorite dentistry! The team in Kihei is top notch at what they do. Shout out to Terri who was my dental hygienist. She was the nicest RDH I have ever met and worked with. She was quick and efficient with x-rays and cleaning. She was incredibly kind and considerate, and very inviting. I also need to recognize Irma. She worked SO HARD to get my appointment set up and insurance squared away. She was very welcoming and made my first appointment stellar. Of course Dr. Lewis was wonderful and able to provide great information and attention during the appointment. This location is clean and updated, with a wonderful team. Highly recommend!

I have been going to Dr Dodsons office for 2 years now. The staff is always friendly and attentive very easy to deal with. I had a sore tooth from a previous filling that was a possible candidate for an overhaul or worse, a root canal. Instead of just recommending it and putting me through that, Dr. Matt referred me to a specialist who determined it would be OK and it has been ever since. Highly respected that they didn't just tell me to do this and take my money. Refreshing to find a practice that holds integrity as a key value. Terri is the dental hygienist that has been cleaning my teeth. She is excellent! Very gentle technique and a warm, personable demeanor that makes it feel like I'm going to see a friend. She is professional and always makes me feel at ease. Highly recommend for anyone thinking about a dentist and hygienist on Maui or on the South side!

I was very nervous for my visit as I hadnt been to the dentist in 10 years. Chrissy made me feel completely at ease. Her friendly and bubbly personality makes her a great people person. She walked me through the entire process and explained the science behind everything. I would recommend her to anyone.

I absolutely love Chrissy as a hygienist! She makes the whole experience very personable. She explains everything as she goes along the procedures, while keeping your comfort at priority. Seriously the best hygienist Ive ever seen!!
