Beware of the Gentle Dental (GD) Oregon City office. Our Feb.-June 2024 experience was the worst dental experience that my wife and I have had in over 50 years together. We are senior citizens and on Medicare. First this dental office with Ms. Peterson, GD Practice Manager refused to accept our Aetna dental insurance who GD dentist, Dr. Young is an Aetna in-network dentist, and Aetna admitted Gentle Dental should have accepted our dental plan second, Ms Peterson falsely stated she was giving a Careington Discount which we had for instances which Aetna dental coverage was not viable, but GD charged their Usual Customary Rate since it was a "specialty" crown procedure third, one of the crowns for my wife has come off twice which Dr. Young reinstalled at no additional charge but said my wife would just have to live with that problem (to cut food in small pieces and chew on opposite side) but in Dec. 2024, my wife has been advised by a another dentist (who has taught dentistry) that Dr. Young used the incorrect type of crown and that the correct type crown should be about as strong as the original tooth and the cost would be about 800 discounted from 1588. Fourth, after submitting the GD bill to Aetna for reimbursement, Aetna paided their contract portion and stated GD overbilled my wife 830 even after teleconference call with Aetna, Ms. Peterson, and us, Ms. Peterson refused to acknowledge responsibility to Aetna's dental plan and willingness to refund the overcharge. What my wife and I learned is that Gentle Dental Oregon City will at times take advantage of their customers, ignore the dental insurance contract rules, and not give the best professional dental service SO BEWARE! In response to the Gentle Dental "owner" request (made 5 hrs after I posted my review) for me to call their Practice Manager of the Oregon City office, I have spoken with Ms Peterson a number of times and even with a Aetna rep and it did not do any good. Ms. Peterson was set in ways to treat my wife unfairly and not according to Aetna dental insurance policy. I requested Gentle Dental and the dentist be removed from their list of in-network dentists since they refuse to adhere to Aetna's contract with them

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO HERE FOR ANY PROCEDURE. I KNOW IT'S LONG BUT IT'S FOR A GOOD REASON. When I was 1415 years old (about 10 years ago) my mother brought me here to get braces. My doctor's last name was Saito. From the very beginning they were extremely rude, the entire staff honestly was absolutely terrible, should've been a red flag but I was just a young teenager and didn't take the bad hints at the time. So I get my braces and throughout the entire process I knew something was off, my teeth were not too crooked but the process took almost 4 years. My mom worked several jobs to be able to afford it even with insurance coverage it was still very expensive. Every 6 months my doctor was supposed to take a few brackets off (as per my other dentists request who did my teeth cleaning different location and not connected to gentle dental). Well Dr. Saito refused and said it was too much of a hassle and that I could just get a proper cleaningcavity check when I was done. I should've pressed charges back then but again I was young and stupid and my mom was working every single day, day and night. During this process her account kept getting charged hundreds of dollars above what we were supposed to pay. Everytime I was forced to go there because they wouldn't answer the phone and their only answer was to contact my insurance because they didn't want to take the blame of course. Well I contacted my insurance and they would tell me that they had received zero contact from the gentle dental for any type of dental coverage (that was literally a part of their responsibility). As I mentioned before the process took 4 years but after 2 years of payment issues one day I got the insurance company on the phone right in front of them and forced the receptionist who was the gal in charge of my case to speak to them and after that we had no payment issues (until later on). He takes my braces off and my top row is very crooked. Easily noticable as it's the 4 teeth in the front. He gave me a retainer for it which I still wear ever day. My bottom row is straight but he put a permanent retainer in. Any reputable dentist will now tell you this is an ancient practice and it causes severe gum receding and it can never be properly cleaned. I told him my top row was crooked and he said once I remove my wisdom teeth it will be straight as more space is going to open up. That never happened. Also he told me all of this AFTER removing my braces!!! Can you even believe that?!??? This man should've been sued years ago. Also after he removed my braces I had over 10 cavities, gingivitis, gum loss and cracked teeth. I didn't get a proper dental check or cleaning for 4 years because of his laziness and lack of care. The dentist in charge of my regular cleaning was shocked to hear my stories. She even went as far as sending them personal emails which they never responded to. Now I've been wanting to get this permanent retainer removed and get a removable one so it doesn't cause anymore gum receding but no dentist wants to touch it out of the fear of what can happen afterwards. A few months after I was done with this place for good, I decided to check every single charge and I noticed they owed us 250-350. I went back in and this time I spoke up and expressed my disappointment so they sent me to a back office immediately where a manager (also had a plaque on her desk that said lawyer) explained that they purposely left that money sitting in my account because people often come back to get new retainers and they no longer need to pay for them if there is money in the account. Can you even believe this excuse??? I just laughed and told her this was possibly the worst made up story I've ever heard. It took them 1-2 MONTHS to send us a check for the remaining balance they owed us. I don't know where Dr. Saito is now, he was older when I first started so I wouldn't be surprised if he has retired. If anyone is reading this please don't take my story lightly and if there is anyway you can go anywhere else do it!

Had my annual cleaning at Gentle Dental and really appreciate the care that is given to me by the hygienists. I have gone to this practice for years and they always hear my concerns and work to ease any dental issue I have. I highly recommend Dr. Young and his staff.

I Absolutely love this dental office!!! The staff is just fantastic and super friendly. The environment is so warm and inviting when you get there. The DR explains everything throughly and gets you in and out QUICKLY !!! I have Absolutely no regrets coming to this location for all my dental needs.

The dentist, hygiene specialist, aides and front desk workers were all very nice and explained everything very clearly to me.

Every visit is a good one. Top notch professionals from the front desk to the chair. I carried fear of the dentist from childhood. Once in a while I would hear people say they loved their dentist and I thought they were crazy. Now this makes sense to me. I love my Dentist, hygienist and the rest of the support staff at this location. They work to make things comfortable and pain free. Thank you!

The Oregon City team is amazing all around! Sam was friendly and clear about my appointment and insurance. Dr. Young was very nice and informative. Presley cleaned my teeth and I've got to say was probably the best cleaning I've ever had. She was super aware and concerned about my comfort as I expressed I had sensitivity so she took extra care to make sure I was ok. Overall, I highly recommend this outstanding team!!

So rude! New patient couldn't understand her English. Couldn't tell me if they took my insurance and she hung up on me. And they want to work on my teeth. I will definitely take business elsewhere!
